able to talk to all as much again but we are so busy so I dont really
think about . Plus Everyone that I live with is way awesome. My
companion seriously the best. I have learned so much from him already
and how to be more of an effective missionary, Its awesome plus we
live with two other Elders who also serve in our branch, and they are
great missionaries as well and we all have a ton of fun living
together. The last week just felt like it flew by which was crazy. So
many things have happened i dont know where but I think I am just
going to try and keep it simple which is one of the things my
companion has been teaching me and that I have been working on. We do
role plays like every morning where we basically have to teach the
lesson in like 2 minutes and talk about all the sections of it in
preach my gospel. At first it was hard but it is getting better and it
really has helped me be a better teacher so much :) So anyway I really
dont remember all that has happened tho so I am sorry i need my
journal in order to tell you all the good stuff haha.
So ya we have definately seen some miracles. It is kind of hard here
because my companion and are both new to this area and we dont know it
or the people really well, we have definately improved tho. So we have
been really focussing this week on people that we could teach. we went
around talking to all the less active people we could, and there are a
lot of them because many hispanics seem to get baptized but then dont
attend church a lot. I am not going to lie there are a lot of
different people here in Passaic, it is awesome. The great thing is
that hispanic people are so nice and humble. I am pretty positive that
I havent spoken to one person who was rude, that might also be because
I dont understand them haha. but for the most part they are all
religious people who beleive in Jesus Christ so if you walk up and ask
them if you can share a message about Jesus Christ they almost always
want to listen. and my companion who has worked in the white english
speaking areas says that is completely different because they will
hardly ever listen to you because they are "too busy for that right
now" So ya dont be to busy for the Gospel :) Anyways on the the great
news of the weekk #1 we found a new investigator, our irst and only
sure investigator. He is really cool but has had a really hard time in
his life. It is soo cool because with him I have seen how he has been
prepared to here the gospel this time in his life. He is from spain
but he speaks English and actually prefers Engllish so that is what we
teach him in. Which is nice for me because I am able to teach a lot
more and also see how the lessons are to go before I teach in spanish.
but he grew up and basically everyone in his family was and is an
alcoholic. So he basically said that he had no other choice and also
began to have serious problems with drinking. He is like a model/actor
and was involved a lot with partying and that seen and he said he felt
like he could never say no to drinking and when he drank he felt so
depressed and like a complete different person. It came to the poing
where he tried to crash and die in the lincoln tunnel and he crashed
but somehow he completely survived and he said at that point is when
he realized that that life was going nowhere for him and made him feel
awful and he basically has chosen everything but god so now he want to
chose god and he was referred to us as a friend. we were able to teach
him about the book of mormon and the peace it will bring to his life
and how the savior gospel has been restored and that is the way god
wants him to go. It was soo awesome the spirit was very strong. Then
we gave him a blessing that to was amazing.. he really is such a great
guy who honestly want to do good and he is way willing to learn and we
even set a baptismal date with him and he said yes but he wants to
know it is true first so we have faith he will get to that point.
Then there is another great story which is hard to explain but a long
story short by ways led by heavenly father we were led to a ladies
house who is less active and her son died 4 weeks ago we were able to
speak with her, comfort her, and give her a blessing of comfort. That
whole experience was very powerful.
What I have really felt this last week is how great it is to be able
to serve as a representative of Jesus Christ and how good it feel to
bring other to him, and to comfort them and do the things he would and
wants to with them. I am very blessed to be here. Tho it is really
hard its worth it and I honestly love it so much already!! It really
is great to be a missionary and I would recomend it to everyone.
Nothing feels better!!
I heard this quote this week and I thought it was awesome. It is part
of our mission them and pretty much desribes how awesome it is to be a
missionary and how God is hastening his work!! :) Love it
