Well hi
there it sounds like you are all doing well over there in Utah but it also
sounds kind of stressfull. I will make sure to keep all of you in my prayers
Especially Braden and Mandy in OKC, that is crazy we really havent heard much
about what is happening there. I will pray LOTS that nothing bad will
happen and for t he people there as well. Also I will make sure to
pray for Adam with his scriptures. I feel so bad for him. I have lost my
sciptures and I wanted to cry and those were just normal ones not from the
first presidency. I know he will find them.
Well
nothing to crazy happened here. Except that Passaic is just crazy in general.
Now that it is hot outside there are so many people outside. There is one
street called monroe, it is like the main street in our area. It is nuts. All
the people just hang out play loud music and yeah it is really hard to think
sometimes haha. But I love it. Plus serious baseball games happen right next to
our house because domincans love baseball. It is the best place to serve a
mission. but this is the last week of the transfer and I dont know what is
really going to happen. I have been here my whole mission, so I could get
transfered but there is a good chance I will be staying here for one more to
stay with Elder Wood. I will be soo happy if that is the case. We will see tho
and I will let you know next week :)
Oh
sidenote, I dont know if I have ever sweated so much in my life.. it is
so hot and humid and I love it as well. I got the "love of heat"
genes so we are good :) I could go with a little less humidity tho haha.
But this
week was really good in terms of the work here in Passaic. We had some solid
things happen. We were able to find 6 new investigators and they all seem
pretty solid and want to learn more about the church. 2 of them are the son and
daughter of a Less Active. Oh and Also we had a really cool experience
this week with a less active. On monday night we called this lady whose name is
Virgilia ( from the Dominican Republic) we have been working with her for
awhile and she or her son who is 20 still havent come back to church. She also
has a 4 month old baby girl. We set up another appointment for
tuesday. So monday night I was thinking about her and as I was praying about
what we could do to help her. I received one of the clearest answers ever. The
thought came to ask her if she would like her baby blessed. So I told Elder
Wood the next morning, we prepared our lesson and went over. We planned to
teach the restoration and then somehow bring the baby blessing. We would do our
best. So we began but we stayed on the topic of the importance of family and
marriage in this life and she began to talk about how she wants to make sure
her daughter grows up in the gospel and has a strong foundation. That is when
we asked her if she wanted her daughter to be blessed. She very happily and
excitedly said yes. So we planned yesterday to be the blessing. We also fasted
that she would be able to come to attend church and that while her baby was
being blessed she would feel something to keep her strong in the church.
So the time came everything was ready except them, they were 40 minutes late to
sacrament meeting... haha so it was a little crazy trying to talk to the
president to see what to do and then finally it was planned to do it in the 3
hour of church in his office. Though this all seemed like a problem. It was
really a blessing, it basically caused her to stay in the church and feel of
the spirit. So many members came up and were so loving to her and her son and
his girlfriend and that made her feel really good. That was one of her biggest
doubts, she was worried about what people would think of her and that they would
judge here and her son. But our branch is the best and they were just love. She
looked over at us and said. I like this and was really happy. Then we were able
to bless her baby, and I was able to be the voice, such a cool experience. Her
name is marium and she is such a cute little baby. As I blessed her I could
feel what a joy she would be to her family and that she could bring them back
in the gospel. It was a sweet experience. Later she invited us to dinner at her
house ( we ate fried bananas and rice, it was amazing). Just by talking with my
and my companion could see a literal difference in virgilia, She was happy and
smiling. She explained how happy she was with the love that the branch
showed her son and his girlfreind and explained her tactic of going to church
every Sunday now and using Marium as bait to get her sons girlfriend to come so
she can than gain a testimony as well. I was able to see Gods hand so much in
this experience. I love this family, they have a sincere desire to follow Jesus
Christ.
So yes that
is my long story for the year ;) haha but I really wanted to share that with
you. Other than that I dont know what else. Oh we are starting an English Class
too. We had a booth for it yesterday and there are going to be so many people coming.
I am sooo excited. Love it.
I hope you
all have a great week! God really is there and will answer our prayers!
LOVE
YOU!!!!!!
